Magnolia Plaza
Panama City, Florida • 67,300 sf

This development has been reconfigured into an updated neighborhood center with a 45,300 sf Publix and 22,000 sf of shops. With the demolition of a DelChamps and new facade for retail stores, designers developed an upscale character through architectural accents using color and various textures and finishes.

Tower elements mark the entrances and feature back-lit blue-tinted clerestory windows. Cultured stone on the tapered columns and details such as gooseneck light fixtures and pier lights complete the Florida coastal scheme.

One challenge arose because of the project’s location in a high wind zone. Designers used high impact storefront windows, resistant for up to 130 mph winds, and coordinated closely with the structural team to successfully overcome this obstacle.
