Family dollar
distribution Center

Client: Family Dollar Services, Inc.
Marianna, Florida • 1,010,000 sf

Conveniently located at the intersection of two major highways, this 903,656 sf footprint distribution center also contains an additional 100,000 sf in mezzanines for a total 1,010,000 sf. With the exception of a masonry entrance/main office, the exterior walls consist of precast panels.

The main office and entrance is a 17,500 sf textured masonry projected form. Its texture and curvilinear design distinguishes the main office from the rest of the building and provides human scale. The open-air employee patio continues the curvilinear shape and mimics the facade's pattern of punched window walls through identically patterned masonry columns.

Product is received and shipped through trucking docks lining the rear of the building and a narrow wing that projects off of the back. Received on the left side of the shipping area, product is distributed throughout the center through miles of conveyors to fulfill an immediate order or for storage. Repackaged product is shipped to 750 retail stores from the right side of the docking area.

Randall-Paulson Architects provided full architectural and interior design services for this project. RPA has designed similar facilities in Rome, New York, and Odessa, Texas.
