Bridgestone/Firestone is an impressive 1,026,502 square foot build-to-suit industrial warehouse located in Jacksonville, Florida. This massive two-story distribution center is one the largest buildings designed by RPA.
Due to its expansive size, designers had to be extremely creative and resourceful in order to keep the building eco-friendly. To lesson the energy impact, they incorporated a number of sustainable design ideas into the project.
Among the many green elements featured in the facility, designers included 933 skylights that cover most of the ceiling. This gives the large distribution center a natural daylighting to aid in energy conservation. Also, each light within the warehouse has its own motion detector sensor so that they are only utilized when there is activity in that area, another energy-saving feature.
