Union Cross III Winston-Salem, North Carolina • 526,320 sf
Randall-Paulson Architects completed the design and construction documents for a 526,320 sf build-to-suit industrial storage and distribution facility for a hardware supplier.
Located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the site is positioned on the crest of a hill, lending the facility a commanding presence. Redwood soffits at the office entry add a natural and inviting feel to visitors while complementing the exterior's modern aesthetics. Tilt columns at the front of the office have a modern gothic expression and are coupled with the use of reflective green-tinted glass on all the storefronts of the building to conserve energy. The exterior perimeter of the facility has clerestory windows above, allowing for ample natural daylighting and aiding in energy conservation.
The 15,000 sf office includes 12 private offices, open office space for approximately 60 cubicles, three conference rooms, a kitchenette, and a break room. RPA also worked with the tenant in the design of a 1,500 sf "creative room". This space was designed to give corporate staff a place for thinking and brainstorming, as well as providing a unique meeting area. The warehouse has three staff restrooms along with a shipping office and lounge.
