ROSWELL - The Cottage School will build a 15,000-square-foot gymnasium and classroom building as well as new classrooms and an athletic field as part of a $2 million expansion.
The Cottage School in Roswell is a non-profit school specializing in providing students with mild learning disabilities an alternative to mainstream schools. It has an enrollment of about 185 students.
The classrooms in phase 2 will add another 3,500 square feet.
The school got the go-ahead from Roswell City Council Jan. 23 when it received a certificate for construction after the project received notice from the Atlanta Regional Commission that the construction was consistent with its Chattahoochee Corridor Plan.
School Executive Director Jacque Digieso said the expansion has been much anticipated by the students and faculty.
"We are excited that we can add this to our curriculum at the Cottage School," she said.
