The Georgia Chapter of the American Concrete Institute recognized Randall-Paulson Architects for their innovative use of concrete by awarding Del Monte an Award of Excellence in the Industrial category. Del Monte was the only build-to-suit in Majestic Airport Park II, so designers personalized the facility to differentiate it from the other speculative distribution centers in the park through the use of reveals in the company’s trademark green. Del Monte’s identity was also portrayed through entry customization at their main office element. The 780,000 sf tilt-up building has a 36,000 sf cooler, 1,250 sf of warehouse and distribution offices, 7,700 sf of administrative office space, with the rest compromised of storage and distribution. Other architectural elements include concrete panels to facilitate louvers and a reveal patterns book-ending the office element.
Annually, the ACI Dan R. Brown award competition honors imaginative and aesthetic concrete projects. The award banquet was held this year on January 26, in Atlanta.
