Architecturally Speaking Summer 2008
Lobby Entry Area

Jameson Suites - Augusta, Georgia

After changing ownership, this hotel underwent a rebranding and was in need of an updated look. Randall-Paulson Architects was asked to develop a fresh appeal for the exterior and interior public spaces. The retrofit opened to the public right before the Master's Golf Tournament in Augusta.

The addition of a two-story vestibule with curtain wall glass at the entrance allows a grand feel to the reception spaces. Rich fall colors and a contemporary energy greet the guests. The flow is continued with staggered ceramic tile flooring and a linear patterned carpet in a comfortable curve that lends movement throughout the lobby.

Upon entering the hotel, a custom guest reception desk is highlighted with a leaf green soffit and a great curved wall made of glowing polycarbonate and metal paneling. The wall materials were chosen to bring outside elements and intrigue into the space.

To one side of the desk, a vestibule and seating area features a dramatic high backed banquette and slate fireplace, both framed in dramatic paint colors which pop against the surrounding wall color. At the other end, a breakfast area welcomes guests with a built-in service counter in dark coffee bean laminate and frosted glass.

Throughout the project, attention was paid to choosing attractive but durable materials, crucial in these high-traffic spaces.
