Employee Sees Results of Volunteer Project
Leslie Carruth, a studio leader at RPA, was given special thanks at the opening celebration for the new and much larger band facilities at Roswell High School. Four years ago she conducted the research and analysis to show that the existing instrumental music suite was seriously undersized for the numbers of students in the band program. Following the efforts of many more dedicated people over the years, the grand opening for the new band suite was held on the evening of February 21, 2008.
Leslie has also been told that the Fulton County School Board has since changed its education facility specifications for instrumental music rooms, and has plans for improvements at three other county high school music suites.
Spring Classic Teams GA Tech against UGA
For the fourth year in a row, RPA is sponsoring the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Spring Classic. This great event benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta through an exciting game between college national powers and rival teams Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Georgia Bulldogs at Turner Field on May 13, 2008.
Principal Michael Randall is again leading a fundraising team to collect donations throughout the community. Not only is the event fun to watch, but it’s been a great chance to contribute to the health of our next generation. Children’s three metro Atlanta hospitals saw 558,000 patients in 2006. This is an important opportunity to help one of the country’s best pediatric hospitals (according to U.S. News & World report) to thrive, grow, and continue offering excellent service to our community.
This event is quickly becoming one of Children’s most successful fundraisers. Hopefully, this year will make the Spring Classic the #1 largest game in NCAA history, and support the community in a way that could affect us all personally.
The Spruill Center for the Arts Anticipating New Arts Center
RPA principal Michael Randall is an active member of the Spruill Center for the Arts Board of Directors. The organization, located in Dunwoody, has been busy planning and campaigning for a new Arts & Education building, to be located directly behind the 100-year old farmhouse that currently serves as their gallery and class space.
The Spruill Center, a 32-year old non-profit organization, aims to foster understanding and appreciation for culture and the arts through classes, exhibitions, and outreach programs. An expansion to their facilities will allow them to increase class offerings and enrollment numbers, and to hold special events.
Shelter Gets Help From RPA Staffer
Project Coordinator Brian Kolis used his Christmas break to volunteer at the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, an organization providing free quality child care & education for children of homeless families. The shelter provides a holistic approach to breaking the cycle of homelessness with adult programs for housing aid, job search help, legal advice, and counseling for the childrens’ parents. Brian was on hand to help with year-end data entry and to play with the kids, giving them needed attention and care.
