Randall-Paulson Architects is celebrating its 15th anniversary and the 6th award of the RPA Essay Scholarship.
Looking for a way to give back to the Universities where they were educated and hoping to promote excellent writing skills among tomorrow’s design professionals, the Principals of RPA created scholarships for architecture students at Georgia Tech and the University of Tennessee. Michael Randall and Alex Paulson (both Georgia Tech grads) and Jim Musgraves (UT A&D) share a commitment to the education of future professionals. In recognition and promotion of the importance of excellent writing skills for the design professional, they decided that Randall-Paulson Architects would sponsor an annual Essay Scholarship at each school. This scholarship, in the amount of $5,000.00, is awarded annually to an eligible 4th year undergraduate or 2nd year graduate level architecture student on the basis of a winning essay submittal written on a topic selected by the firm.
Topics are developed around some aspect of the business of architecture to highlight the importance of professional communication. The goal of the competition is to stress the every day need for clear and accurate writing skills necessary to prepare the proposals, letters, memos, meeting minutes, specifications and contracts which are an integral part of the practice of architecture.
