Ray-Ban Flagship Store Atlanta, Georgia • 1,500 sf
Randall-Paulson Architects served as Architect of Record, teamed with British design firm Checkland Kindleysides, to design and build this upscale retail store for Ray-Ban sunglasses.
This “Flagship” store’s opening was timed to correspond with the arrival of the 1996 Summer Olympics. It was Ray-Ban’s first retail store. The store was designed to function as a showcase for Ray-Ban’s current sunglass designs, and as a gallery depicting the evolution of Ray-Ban’s product line.
Because of its limited square footage, the space relied heavily on the details of the design to create depth, scale, and impact. Features include:
• Curving walls and ceiling create
dramatic depth
• Stone tiles, sheet metal, glass,
and natural woods add texture
and variety
• Sleek custom cases house small,
museum-style exhibits and
showcase merchandise
• Video screens and larger than-life
graphics add visual impact
• Strategically designed lighting
and artificial skylights enhance
the dramatic atmosphere
