Car-Spa commissioned Randall-Paulson Architects to renovate two existing local car wash facilities into quality car care supercenters as they entered into the Atlanta market. The design goal was to create a comfortable, upscale environment with superior customer service.
The remodel included a new interior space, car wash tunnel, and new exterior skin and storefront system. Both buildings featured a strong interior circular component that became the focal point from which the curved glass storefront and skylight radiate. Curvilinear forms are expressed in the soffits, flooring, and dramatic, custom designed customer service desk.
The interior colors include a warm palette with natural wood overtones and textured finishes. Accents of brilliant blue tones are located throughout the facility reflecting the company’s corporate colors. Hanging glass pendant lights of similar colors with bubbled textures further the color scheme. Accent lighting throughout the space highlight the porcelain tile flooring and exposed structure. To complete the design the space was furnished with contemporary furnishings and accessories.
A unique feature in the design is a hallway parallel to the carwash tunnel. It provides an observation area where the customer can watch and experience the industry’s leading edge in car wash technology. Suspended translucent ceiling panels in a curvature pattern hang to allude to a continuous ‘wave’ along side of the tunnel. Frosted window panels with the company’s logo provide natural lighting into the adjacent restrooms.
