Diakonia Center

The Diakonia Center, a camp and retreat facility created through the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta, is nestled on approximately 200 wooded acres surrounding a scenic lake in Salem, South Carolina.

Randall-Paulson Architects was responsible for the design of the new Dining Hall and Kitchen with a capacity of 300 diners. Overlooking the lake, it is designed to serve small to large groups for retreats, conferences, and summer camp groups visiting the center. The architecture evolves around the traditional character of an ancient Greek isle village.

In addition, RPA has been instrumental in establishing a consistent architectural “village” character that will inspire the hardscape and architecture of future facilities planned for the center.
