ADAL JSTARS Warehouse Robins Air Force Base, Georgia •
15,190 sf
The US Air Force Air Combat command commissioned Randall-Paulson Architects to provide survey and design services for an addition and existing building modifications to the Joint STARS Supply/Equipment Warehouse. The design also provided for a new facade to tie the structure into the architecture of the new JSTARS campus.
The addition design includes 2,680 sf of office space, 10,010 sf of warehouse space, 2,500 sf of covered storage and additional parking spaces.
The survey of the existing building determined the optimum location for adding to the existing structure. The project also involved an evaluation of structural limitations related to cracking of exterior walls. The final project documents included perimeter footing underpinning to the building’s existing exterior concrete columns to reduce the existing settling situation, and to support the new facade and roofing materials.
Similar to that of the surrounding buildings, design features include field brick with square brick columns, a standing-seam roofing system, dark bronze aluminum storefront system, and white precast-stone sills and accent bands.
The wall treatment of the existing warehouse consists of adding a parapet wall to set a consistent wall height across the three sides of the existing warehouse facade. Field brick and precast stone accent bands will be added to all sides of the existing building facade, and the existing concrete pilasters will be enlarged with field brick.
