Randall-Paulson Architects was selected by Majestic Realty to design the 7,800 sf office space and 219,000 sf distribution center for their tenant Caterpillar.
The Caterpillar office/distribution facility serves as the center for their Southeast operation. The building has double-loaded truck door docks for incoming and outgoing orders. RPA worked
extensively with the Caterpillar managers to meet their operating needs and internal configuration.
The structure consists of load-bearing, tilt-up concrete walls with a steel frame roof system and a 28 foot clear height. The tilt-up concrete panels were designed to allow for future expansion at the north
end with minimal disruptions of the building’s current use.
The office entry is “bookmarked” by accent panels projecting from the building. Poured-in-place concrete panels support spandrel beams at the entrance and feature Caterpillar yellow as the accent
color. Dark tinted glazing accents the color scheme and provides relief from the Southern sun.
